Organized by: Simon Fraser University, SFU's Partnerships Hub

Science commercialization can take 10-15 years and millions of dollars of investment with uncertain outcomes. Translating leading scientific inventions into impactful innovation has three main challenges: the time-money-uncertainty, the different incentives and timelines of academia and industry; and the typically narrow education our science and engineering researchers receive. To overcome these challenges, Canada needs a build-for-scale strategy, starting within university research labs and classrooms, and extending through purpose-driven translational grants, de-risking and process scaleup up facilities, mentoring support, to commercialization and IP strategy. Learn from science innovation leaders about new approaches that are improving outcomes, and the potential for building and connecting the science innovation ecosystem in Canada.
