Black communities in Canada face many inequalities, with direct and indirect impacts on their health, the care they access and receive, and their right to make decisions concerning their health and care. Although health disparities faced by Black communities are well documented in the U.S., there is an egregious lack of knowledge and data to support the generation of racially-informed approaches to population health, healthcare and health professional training in Canada. The gaps in research, care, training, and public health policies motivated the creation of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Black Health at the University of Ottawa. It will be presented during this virtual room.
