The National Research Council (NRC) recently undertook a horizon-scanning initiative to identify key economic and societal challenges of significance for Canada over the next 10 to 15 years. The objective was to identify technologies likely to be implemented in this time frame, which align with the NRC's mandate to support public policy, in particular addressing Canadian economic and societal challenges. Six broad subject areas were explored, including: Climate Change, Resource Futures, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Privacy, Health-care Futures and New Models of Innovation. 
This session will explore the horizon-scanning methodology used by NRC, and will present some preliminary findings drawn from the report and subsequent cons
