EDI Symposium 222: Convergence of Science, Technology, and Social Activism: A Path Towards the Inclusion of Minority Language Speakers

Minority language speakers face the extinction of their native languages as they are marginalized, discriminated against, unable to find opportunities and even facing hurdles to exercise their basic rights.
Most minority language communities are also impoverished and dependent on a single economic activity. This propels migration, breaking families, suffering discrimination and facing ostracism as they cannot communicate in a foreign language, just to send home ~300 USD monthly.
As technology development accelerates creating vast opportunities, it is unacceptable to deprive language minorites of the inclusion opportunities that it could provide. We bring together a transdisciplinary panel of experts to propose a path forward.
