Eric M. Meslin, PhD, FRSC, FCAHS is President and CEO of the Council of Canadian Academies, an independent organization that conducts assessments of evidence to inform Canadian public policy. Over a three-decade career in academic and government settings he has held prior positions including at Indiana University as Associate Dean in the School of Medicine and Founding Director of the Center for Bioethics, Executive Director of the US National Bioethics Advisory Commission appointed by President Clinton, and as Bioethics Director of the Human Genome Project’s ELSI program.  Meslin has held academic positions at University of Toronto, the University of Western Australia, and Université de Toulouse, and is currently Adjunct Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health University of Toronto, Senior Fellow of the PHG Foundation Cambridge University and sits on advisory groups including the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation COVID-19 Impact Committee, Genome Canada’s CanCOGen Steering Committee.
