Giulia started her career in science at the University of Milan with a BSc and a MSc degree in Industrial Biotechnology. Subsequently, she moved to Canada where she started her journey in neuroscience at Université Laval in Quebec City, completing her PhD focused on Huntington’s disease. After her PhD, Giulia held different research management roles, to finally decided to go back to the bench as a postdoctoral researcher working on Alzheimer’s disease and neuroinflammation. Giulia has received several national and international scholarships and awards for her outstanding research work, including the CIHR Postdoctoral Fellowship. Giulia has published more than 31 research manuscripts in important peer-reviewed journals in the areas of neurobiology and neuroinflammation and her research has been cited more than a thousand times to date. In 2018, together with a group of immigrant women in science like herself, she co-founded the IWS Network, by co-creating the IWS Toronto node.
