Dr. Malcolm Campbell is a distinguished scholar and accomplished plant genome biologist, who oversees an active research group; serves on journal editorial boards as well as scientific and non-scientific advisory boards; and advises governmental, non-governmental, private sector, and community organizations. After acquiring degrees in genetics and biochemistry at University of Guelph, post-doctoral experience in France and the USA, and eight years as a tenured faculty member at Oxford University, Dr. Campbell joined the University of Toronto in 2004. He was Vice Principal (Research) at University of Toronto Scarborough from 2009-2015. In 2015, Dr. Campbell was appointed Vice President (Research) at University of Guelph. In addition to vice presidential duties, which include overseeing University of Guelph’s extensive partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs, Dr. Campbell also serves as institutional lead of U of G’s Canada First Research Excellence Fund initiative, Food from Thought, a big data analytics platform for the agri-food sector.
