Bio : Al Mussell is Research Lead, and founder, of Agri-Food Economic Systems, Inc.

Prior to establishing Agri-Food Economic Systems, Al was Senior Research Associate at the George Morris Centre in Guelph, Ontario for fifteen years. His areas of research expertise are farm management and agricultural systems, agricultural marketing, and agri-food policies.  Previously, Al worked as an economist in the milk procurement division of Land O’Lakes, Inc. in Minnesota. 

 Al holds bachelors and masters degrees in agricultural economics from the University of Guelph, and a doctorate in agricultural economics from the University of Minnesota, where he was a Fulbright Scholar. He is also an alumnus of the International Visitor Leadership Program of the US State Department.  Al is a past President of the Canadian Agricultural Economics Society and the Ontario Pork Industry Council, and has served on the board of the Progressive Dairy Operators. Al also serves as a Member of Bioenterprise’s Science and Innovation Advisory Committee.

Avant de créer Agri-Food Economic Systems, il a été associé principal de recherche au George Morris Centre à Guelph, en Ontario, pendant quinze ans. Ses domaines d'expertise sont la gestion et le marketing agricole ainsi que les politiques agroalimentaires.  Auparavant, Al Mussell a travaillé comme économiste dans la division de l’approvisionnement en lait de Land O'Lakes au Minnesota. 

Al détient un baccalauréat et une maîtrise en économie agricole de l'Université de Guelph, et un doctorat en économie agricole de l'Université du Minnesota, où il était boursier Fulbright. Il est également un ancien élève de l'International Visitor Leadership Program du département d'État des États-Unis.  Al est un ancien président de la Société canadienne d'économie agricole et du Conseil de l'industrie porcine de l'Ontario, et a siégé au conseil d'administration de Progressive Dairy Operators. Al est également membre du comité consultatif sur la science et l'innovation de Bioenterprise.
