Jake (Jacqueline) Freeman is a proud Michif raised in Winnipeg, the homeland of the Métis Nation and Treaty 1 territory.  She holds a Chemical and Biosciences Technology Diploma from Red River College (2000) as well as a Bachelor of Science from the University of Manitoba (2008).


Jake’s passions include art and jewelry making and facilitating workshops through her small business.  Jake also enjoys hunting, fishing, traveling, reading, and always learning more about her homeland, her history and her culture, as well as the history and culture of other Nations.  Jake is a new board member for the Peoples Food Institute (late 2020).


Jake is also part of the Knowledge Circle for Indigenous Inclusion Collaborators Circle, a member of the Interdepartmental Indigenous STEM Initiative, a member of the Indigenous Circle of Employees (ICE – PSPC), former chair (2017-2020) of the Indigenous Network Circle (AAFC), a member of the Indigenous Learning Community of Practice, and a member of the Indigenous Federal Employee Network. Jake now works as a Policy Analyst for PSPC in the Science Partnerships Section of Laboratories Canada.
