Dr. Karim Khan is a professor in the Department of Family Practice and School of Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He was appointed as Scientific Director of the CIHR-Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis in 2017. As a researcher, Dr. Khan is recognized for studies of physical activity and health. He has published 350 peer-reviewed papers and he served as editor-in-chief of the British Journal of Sports Medicine (BJSM) for 13 years. Dr. Khan is co-author of the medical/physiotherapy textbook Brukner & Khan’s Clinical Sports Medicine (5 editions). For services to Sport and Exercise Medicine, he was awarded the Order of Australia (AO) (2019) and received honorary doctorates in Norway and Scotland. Dr. Khan holds a medical degree (1984) and PhD (1998) from the University of Melbourne, and an MBA (2011) from the University of British Columbia.
