Kei is the Principal Deputy Director for Policy in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP).  Prior to this, he was Chief of Staff in OSTP and Senior Advisor for Science Policy at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). He has also previously served as Assistant Director for Federal Research and Development and Senior Advisor to the Director for the National Science and Technology Council at the OSTP. Before joining OSTP, he served as the Director of the R&D Budget and Policy Program at AAAS.

Mr. Koizumi received his MA from the Center for International Science, Technology, and Public Policy program at the George Washington University (where he was an instructor). He has worked on US government research funding policy and on scientific advice to policymakers, including contributions to US National Academy of Sciences’ report panels.
