Matt joined the Canadian Forces in Summer 2001 as an airframe mechanic. He worked on Canada’s maritime patrol fleet in Nova Scotia until he was selected for commissioning in 2009. In 2017, Matt was posted into his current position at RMC where he finds ways to make chemical reactions more efficient by performing them within one or two dimensional nanoreactors.

In 2018, Matt initiated Science meets Parliament in Canada in collaboration with the Canadian Science Policy Centre and Dr. Mona Nemer, Canada’s Chief Science Advisor. As programme co-chair, he is keenly looking forward to welcoming this year’s delegation of scientists, engineers, and social scientists to Parliament Hill in Spring 2022.
