Sivani is a PhD candidate in Environmental Chemistry at the University of Toronto. Her research looks at methods for measuring and predicting physical-chemical properties that are important in identifying chemicals that have the potential to build up in air-breathing species. She became interested in science policy during her undergraduate degree. In 2018, she co-founded the Toronto Science Policy Network, and has organized various science policy events, including workshops, talks, and panel discussions on key policy issues. As the 2019-20 Vice-President, Sivani helped lead TSPN during the Vote Science campaign, and played a central role in the design of the survey to understand the impacts of COVID-19 on graduate students in Canada. Sivani went on to become the president of TSPN from 2020-2021 where she led continued outreach on the VoteScience Campaign and the results of the TSPN COVID-19 survey, and has helped host numerous science policy events.
