Toby Wardman is Head of Communications for SAPEA, part of the European Commission's Scientific Advice Mechanism which provides independent scientific advice to European Commissioners to support their decision-making. SAPEA brings together over a hundred academies, young academies and learned societies in more than 40 countries across Europe, and has a mandate not only to communicate about the advice it gives but also to raise awareness and stimulate conversations in society about the role of evidence in policymaking. Toby was trained in philosophy and worked extensively in political and science communication in the UK before moving to Brussels. He is also the host of the Science For Policy podcast, the world's only ongoing podcast focusing on science advice.
