Yann Joly is the Research Director of the Centre of Genomics and Policy (CGP). He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Human Genetics at McGill University. He was named Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences in 2017. 

Prof. Joly is the current Chair of the CanCOGeN Data Sharing Committee and Co-Lead the regulatory and ethics work stream of the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH). He is also a member of the Human Genome Organization (HUGO) Committee on Ethics, Law and Society (CELS). Prof. Joly’s research interests lie at the interface of the fields of scientific knowledge, health law (biotechnology and other emerging health technologies), privacy and bioethics. He created the first international genetic discrimination observatory (GDO https://gdo.global/en/gdo-description) in 2018. He has published his findings in over 150 peer-reviewed articles featured in top legal, ethical and scientific journals.
